Description by the composer:
I composed this song as birthday gifts for my two sisters — Marcie Susan Kotler and Lynn Laitman Siebert — and my brothers-in-law Morris Kotler and Donald Siebert. I began work in April 2017, sketching the vocal line and harmonies, anhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jcKCdt7R5sd returned to flesh out the song in November 2017. The lyrical vocal line floats atop the piano, whose harmonies and textures provide additional commentary on the text. I premiered the work with soprano Maureen McKay at PianoCraft in Gaithersburg, MD on October 10, 2018.
