Chris deBlasio wrote these songs for me, and I performed them for the first of many times in 1989 with pianist Timothy Smith. I am a contralto, so the low key is the original. Chris was a good singer himself, and the vocal writing is very grateful. You can hear the influence of Chris's beloved 20th century French composers in the colorful piano writing. Audiences enjoy these songs, and -- just a suggestion -- "Lyric 4" is a very effective encore.
